Following criticism, HEC retracts its announcement that Holi will be banned at Pakistani universities.

With regard to the freedom of religious holidays and festivals, HEC has reversed its judgment to prohibit Holi at Pakistani universities. Higher Education Commission Pakistan's Executive Director, Dr. Shaista Sohail, issued a statement reiterating the organization's commitment to respecting all religions, their festivals, and their respective faiths.

HEC outlawed such activities following the jubilant Holi celebration at a Pakistani university, although the decision was roundly criticized. Salman Sufi, the head of the prime minister's strategic reforms office, also issued a statement in which he made it clear that the education minister had given HEC instructions on the lifting of the ban.

The Higher Education Commission later emphasized that no celebrations were intended to be prohibited. Additionally, their main objective is to advance tactics that improve academic brilliance and research quality.
