According to the Lahore High Court, leasing 1 million acres of land to the Pakistan Army for corporate farming is unlawful

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ruled that the Punjab interim administration lacks the power to provide the Pakistan Army access to around 1 million acres of state land for corporate agro production. In accordance with the court's ruling, which was made public on Wednesday, the interim administration of Punjab and the Pakistani military lack the legal authority to participate in corporate farming.

The Punjab government shall get any land that has been handed to the military for commercial farming, according to Justice Abid Hussain Chattha's single-judge bench judgment. The court also stressed the need of educating military personnel on their legal and constitutional responsibilities as well as the possible repercussions of any breaches.

The federal government, the minister of defense, the chiefs of the army, navy, and air staffs will all be informed of the verdict. The petitioner's attorney, Rafay Alam, praised the decision as a big victory for democracy and people who defend the law.
